Newt Season

The best thing about a wildlife pond is the moment it stops looking like water and starts looking like a place.

Newts have a way of doing that.

At first you notice nothing. Then a small shape appears among the plants. Then another. Then you realise the pond is not empty at all.

The trick is to slow down.

Newts do not perform. They simply live there.
